Step 1  mentally, design the image on the page

 step 2 start with the darks

step 3 keep working the darks

step 4 adjust the darks and get variety

step 5 start adding the mid tones

step 6 bring in the lights

step 7 adjust adjust adjust and add minimal details

step 8 evaluate and have hot coco and look for stuff

that doesn't relate to anything else. Let it rest for a day then move on. lol
