I repainted this because I thought the background was too dark. Maybe, if background is lighter, it could give more emphasis to the foreground. It kinda works. I may have painted my self into a what if corner, because if any shape is changed all the other shapes want to change as well. hmmmm what to do :-)
Kind of in a slump with drawing but this was a lot of fun. Danett is a very good model. I think I have a lead on a workshop later this year that will help a lot. Dan Thompson will be at The Castle Rock Attelier in July.
This is my offering for daily painting, actually it is twice weekly painting in a small format. This one is based on the painting from the day before at Hidden Mesa. It is really a learning experience to paint small and to paint the same concept over and over.
Painted with PAAC and the Pastel Society of Colorado. There were about 17 artists who showed up to paint at Hidden Mesa just south of Parker CO.What a gorgeous day to paint. Pretty cool if you are in the wind but I found a nice sheltered spot and standing in the sun was so nice I took my jacket off to enjoy the weather. Lorenzo Chavez painted an awesome piece as usual and so did Richard Szcutnik and Mike Ray and Norbert Nagel. We started with breakfast and then finished with lunch and had a wonderful time.
It is funny how some paintings just come together and others fight back. This one looked good on the sketch but it wasn't going to go down easy. It fought back, it seems, all the way to the finish. Hope the next one goes easier. The photo of the painting is not the greatest either, its hard to light a large painting properly.
