This is a wonderful exercise - first stare at the scene for 2 min and then turn your back and paint for 15 min. do this for about and hour or 4 sessions. Then Paint the same scene only looking at it like normal. Wow. Obviously the weather had changed but the concept is powerful.
Day 2 Marc Hanson workshop- the exercise is to use the split primary palette.
(cool yellow) - cad lemon
(warm yellow) cad yellow deep
(warm red) cad red light
(cool red) Aliz crimson
(cool blue) Ultra marine
(warm blue) pthalo blue
It is confirmed. I do not like pthalo blue.
it is really difficult to work with a color bias system especially if you already have a comfortable palette. But.. this is a great exercise to get the old noggin working and not just using muscle memory. I will need to do this again and again.
